La Guajira is a privileged land with endless resources and wealth; the most attractive of the latter lies within its people, the Wayuu indigenous communities. This ethic group has endured a history of exploitation from their resources, land, crafts and culture.
Social work by the Institución Etnoeducativa Rural La Paz is developed within each of the indigenous communities that suffer the calamities of a forgotten land, of the poor and outcast, surrounded by years of violence, exploitation and lack basic human necessities.
Our social commitment is to offer each child and member of our community that is in need, special attention, knocking on their homes, paving communication and understanding their specific needs. Our job does is not limited to a basic collection of data, it extends to the sourcing of solutions to aide in the preservation and enrichment of this beautiful indigenous population. Education is our best weapon, Christ is our guide and it is though his teachings that broken spirits are healed and through his glory and mercy reborn.
Institución Etnoeducativa Rural La Paz possesses the basic mechanisms to educate members of our population. Education is how we convey, conserve, reproduce and uphold culture. These children are the future of La Guajira, thus, it is essential that we cultivate their young lives with principles overflowing with love, kindness, respect for themselves and one another, God, parents and society.
Our work and research has led to the creation of two departments aimed at specific areas of the population: The Wellness and EVAD Departments. Please follow sub links and learn more about or work in the community.
