The Institución Etnoeducativa Rural La Paz, formally established in 1991, serves the indigenous youth of the Wayuu ethnic community of the northern peninsula of Colombia, with a grade Pre-K to 11th education. The school brings forth hope and education to the land of the forgotten indigenous Wayuu population of Colombia, also knows as the “People of the desert.” The education and religious values instilled by the school, serve as a guide and propel each student into properly adjusting to an ever-changing society while upholding their integrity, culture, love and respect for God.
Our main and founding facility is located in the state of La Guajira, township of La Paz, municipality of Manaure. The school is made up of seven (7) additional venues spreading across Manaure and the vicinity of Uribia known as the indigenous capital of Colombia.
Despite humble beginnings, it was on November 25th of 1999, under the grit and determination of their beloved principal and director, Mrs. Reyes M. Lindao Uriana, that the Institución Etnoeducativa Rural La Paz earned recognition from the ministry of education and was formally established and recognized as a formal mixed student school serving a calendar A educational chronogram. Additional recognitions followed in 2010, 2013 and lastly in 2017 solidifying the school as an official educational institution satisfying the grades Pre-K to elementary and high school educational requirements.
Surrounded by the mercy of God, friends and teachers, our students discover and develop their passions across academics, arts, and athletics, and achieve excellence. The curriculums are taught by extraordinary teachers, carefully crafted by men and women who are passionate about truly education under God’s principles.
